The story of

Medical School for Kids

We created MD for Kids to provide a fun, memorable, and engaging series of educational books to teach children (and parents!) about the medical field.

Our own journeys toward becoming physicians have been among the most formative and meaningful years of our lives, and we are grateful to be able to share our love for medicine with others through these kids medical books.

What people are saying

“As an MD myself (though not in ophthalmology), I really appreciate all the detail that went into the diagrams, including different anatomical cross sections of the eye. I think it will take reading this book several times to my son for all the new words to really “stick.” There’s so much great information! My son’s favorite page is the picture of the retina — he says it looks like mars!! Will read this book over and over again to my son until he knows it all.”

– Michelle P.

“I appreciated the authors’ ability to breakdown this information for the readers. Spreading this knowledge can help others in less fortunate parts of the world where eye conditions mentioned are very common yet undertreated.”

– Najma K.

“The authors’ ability to put complex medical ideas into simple explanations and illustrations is amazing. I love that I am learning with my nephew as I am reading these books to him. I even showed the books to my mom (who has mild cataracts), and she also loved it and said these books are valuable for adults as well! Kudos to the authors!”

– Jackie P.

“My 4 year old really enjoyed this book! He’s so curious and loves reading. This was really well-written and illustrated.”

– Lauren M.

“I have several nephews who will be starting school soon and I am always trying to find educational gifts that will spark their curiosity and promote a love for learning. I think this definitely fits the bill! This book is well-written and beautifully illustrated. It’s also impressively informative for a picture book. I don’t think I learned about how nearsightedness and farsightedness worked until high school! Will be looking forward to seeing more books like this in other medical specialties.”

– Andrew P.

“Are you worried that you children will be susceptible to antivax? Do you want your kids to develop confidence in science and medicine? Look no further! There is such a lack of educational materials to acquaint children with medicine and, if anything, making the doctor visits less scary. I hope these authors will make additional books for middle school students as well. To many youngsters, medicine is such a mysterious concepts, having these books will bridge that gap.”

– Ann M.

“Probably too advanced for my 2-year-olds, but I sure learned a lot! My kids do love all the colorful pictures and they will grow into this book soon enough. Lots of great information that really teaches kids how the eye works. Love the last few pages that show pictures of how people with cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration see the world. The diagrams are educational and the illustrations are gorgeous. Wish this book was around when I was a kid!”

– Tracy P.

“Highly recommend this book! Excellent for engaging young kids early in science, diversity, and medicine. My nephew was fascinated by the illustrations bursting with color and the peculiar skin diagnoses showcased. I hope the authors consider making more of this series.”

– Jimmy Z.

“If you are looking for a book for kids to learn about medicine early, I would highly recommend this book. They broke it down into the basic concept, which is kid-friendly content. 100% highly recommend!”

– Minh P.

“This book is perfect for my niece and nephew! It’s very educational yet simple enough for kids to understand. The illustrations are nicely done and help kids visualize what is being explained, for example, the different layers of the skin and what they do. Excellent book!”

– Jennifer C.

“As someone who’s not in the medical field, I actually learned a ton of new information from this book. Now I have a sense of what features doctors look at to tell the difference between a normal mole and a melanoma! I also really liked that there was a glossary (including how to pronounce new vocab) and even review questions/answers at the end. This isn’t like most other children’s books. This is real medical content… written as a picture book for kids!”

– Scott D.

“I love that this book is written by physicians and is very informational, but is explained in a simple way. The illustrations are colorful and clear. This has become one of my nephew’s favorite books, and I love reading it to him.”

– Mary P.

“This book explains tough medical concepts in a way that it is easy to understand. I was also very impressed by the quality of the illustrations. I’ve started reading the book to my nephew , and he’s begun to learn words such as “Vitamin D” and “dermis”. I hope these books will spark interest in science for him as he gets older. I will be buying more books form this brand.”

– Andrew G.

“One of the coolest books I’ve read to my 3-year-old son. My husband and I are both physicians and read to my son every night. We’ve never seen anything like this before! I think the authors did a great job of picking important and kid-friendly concepts in dermatology to teach about. I love the last few pages that emphasize sun safety. Kids who read this will be way ahead of the curve — I never learned about ABCDEs of melanoma until med school!”

– Mike P.

“I absolutely love this book for my kids- it’s a really fun way to introduce kids to medicine and biology. The pictures are great and this book does a great job breaking down complex topic and making them clear and easy to understand. As someone in the medical field, love the content 10/10”

– Michelle Z.

“Purchased this for our 4-year-old nephew who loved the book. His parents learned something new too!”

– Paul L.

Easy read, lots of learning, and actually accurate! As a neurologist, I have to say I am a HUGE fan of this book. The illustrations and explanations are fantastic and it’s a good starter about the brain FOR ANY AGE. Appreciate the depth of the book but also how simple it is. Already have my colleagues getting it for their children!”

“We need more books like these! Children are able to handle big vocabulary! Lays great foundation! Wish I had these earlier in my homeschooling years with my children!”
